Background:
2021: One summer afternoon 7 crossfit colosseum warriors set out from Crossfit Colosseum to embark on an epic challenge, the 4 x 4 x 48, running 4 miles (6.44km), every 4 hours hours, for 48 hours.
Starting Thursday at 4pm, they ran through day and night, through rain, some of them sleeping at the gym, getting up every 4 hours to complete the runs. And complete them they did. All 12 runs:
48 miles over 48 hours with zero injuries and no one left behind. Created by David Goggins, the 4x4x48 is designed to test physical and mental strength. It’s not a race, its a personal challenge.
And now we’re doing it again – in February. Starting at noon on Friday February 9th we’ll be running every 4 hours until Sunday morning at 8am.
Kicking it up a notch? Maybe. As of right now the forecast calls for light flurries and mild temperatures.
Each run is roughly equivalent to running from the gym to the point and back (though we’ll mix up the route a bit), and the total distance takes you into ultra-marathon territory, but you get to rest after each run, so its a gentle intro. And we’re looking for warriors to join the team. You know you’ve got what it takes, shoot Paul an email and let him know you’re going to join us on this epic adventure. Can’t do the whole weekend? Come out and join us as a guest runner on some of the loops.
