Occupation: Social Services.
How were you introduced to CrossFit & How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Back home, the gym that I regularly went to introduced some CrossFit/ strongman movements. I enjoyed them a lot.
I have been doing CrossFit for 4 years now (on and off – injuries ofc lol)
What made you decide to join our Gym?
I was new to the country, pandemic hit. I lost all social connections. I worked 7 days a week, until burnout hit it me hard. I realized that I was struggling within.
I knew I needed sense of community, discipline and mental recovery. Looked around for CrossFit gyms. I couldn’t stand the thought of a regular gym with people doing their own thing with headphones on. I needed communication, interaction and inspiration.
I loved Colosseum’s website, loved the reviews. I loved that fact this gym wasn’t only about workouts, but also community events!
Intro class with Paul was fantastic, i was so beat that I remember saying out loud, “this is so cool” – i don’t think people say that when they go to a regular gym lol, Steph also helped me a lot with fundamentals (also secretly hoped to look as fit a Steph)
Joining gym was easy, its the people that made me stay and never leave. Gym has made a huge impact on me as a person.
This is my adult playground!!
Favourite Lifts/ WODs? Why?
Favourite lift would be a snatch (both hang and power) – i love the explosiveness to this movement. Its quick flexible coordination. Never thought I could do it and now i think i look pretty cool doing it!
WODs: I love chipper workouts and AMRAPS
3 Things you would find in my fridge?
Greek yogurt, Chilli crisps and Tofu
What is your guilty pleasure?
Oh gosh, i have way too many. Salty chips, cold beer, ice cream! (I can keep going…)
Most of all would be going through old nostalgic photographs, reading harry potter for the 100th time or listening to a great true crime podcast.
Proudest Accomplishments?
My first 10k.
If someone would have told me that I could do that, I would have proudly betted against myself.
Running distance is as complex and difficult as a powerful complicated lift. I now run for pleasure. That for me is mind blowing!
Also being where I am as a person today. Its never easy to leave your country to start from scratch. No matter how old you are, bidding farewell to your parents at airport to start a new chapter is never easy. I’m proud that I am still standing, serving and surviving with head up high.
Something people wouldn’t know about me?
- I’m obsessed with Chess. Also pretty good at it.
- I’m a book worm.
- I can’t swim. Proud of my drowning skills though.
What music I like listening to while working out?
Indian Punjabi music, eminem, metal, snoop dog, dr dre… my workout playlist is very shady.
