How were you introduced to CrossFit & how long have you been doing it?
I honestly can’t remember exactly how I first heard about CrossFit. It was just one of those things I always wanted to try. I think I even reached out to CrossFit Colosseum a few years back, but the timing wasn’t quite right. I finally joined about a year ago… and it’s hands-down one of the best decisions I’ve made!
What made you decide to join our gym?
The great reviews definitely caught my attention, but it was the vibe that sold me. From the intro class with Paul to the fundamentals with Eve, I knew this place was special. It felt like a true community from day one, and I was totally right!
Favourite lifts/WODs? Why?
I love lower-body focused workouts – give me all the squats! 🏋️♀️ That said, the more I improve in other movements, the more I actually enjoy the suffering (in the best way possible, of course). 😅
Three things you’d always find in my fridge:
- Daryl’s protein bars (for pre- or post-WOD survival)
- Hungarian paprika pastes (gotta keep the cooking legit 🇭🇺)
- Chocolate – because balance 😉
Guilty pleasure?
ICE CREAM. I can’t keep it in the freezer or it mysteriously disappears… usually all at once.
Proudest accomplishments?
Honestly? Running the Beer Mile and living to tell the tale!
But in all seriousness, moving to Canada from across the Atlantic 20 years ago, all on my own and without speaking English. It was scary, but I made it. And now I get to thrive in a community like this.
Something people wouldn’t know about me?
I used to be super active as a kid – karate, gymnastics, ballet, cheerleading – all of it! But when I moved to Canada, I lost touch with that part of myself. It feels amazing to be back in an active routine again, moving, improving, and doing things I didn’t think I could anymore. Oh, and I ride a motorcycle too. 😎
What music do you like to work out to?
Anything upbeat that keeps the energy high! Lately, I’ve been really into Latin music, probably because I’ve been learning Spanish on Duolingo (¡vamos!)… or maybe it’s the other way around 😄. I also have a soft spot for early 2000s hits, the ones I didn’t appreciate back then but now totally love. And when the WOD calls for something intense, I’m not afraid to blast some heavy metal. Fun fact: I used to be a bit of a metalhead back in the day… ask me for pictures when you see me! 😄
